Job Title: Stop.Breathe.Think Counsellor
Location: Remote working
Hours: Flexible, between the hours of 9.00-19.00 Monday- Thursday 9.00-17.00 Friday
Hourly Rate: £28 (increasing to £30 after one year)

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate counsellors to join our growing online service. The successful candidate must have the knowledge and skills to provide quality care to our clients, be willing and able to working remotely (delivering counselling by video or phone call), and show a passion and enthusiasm for working with young people form varied backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Working within a team of counsellors providing high quality support to service users experiencing issues relating to their emotional wellbeing, in order to help turn lives around.
- Deliver 6 x sessions per young person, of young person/child lead counselling whilst assessing the needs of the young person and applying therapy methods accordingly.
- Working remotely, being responsible for appropriately managing clinical risk when it arises and to communicate with the governance team on resolution of issues.
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and abide by internal recording guidelines.
- To maintain adequate CPD, receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and continue to meet UKCP, BABCP or HPCP registration requirements.
- Maintaining confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and ensure that client confidentiality is always protected.
- Be a self-starter able to manage own workload.
Requirements:
- Counselling or Psychotherapy qualification accredited at Level 4 or higher
- At least one year’s post qualification experience working in a mental health setting or with patients living with obesity or long-term health conditions.
- Experience of working in an NHS or school setting
- Several years’ practical experience working with children in a clinical setting may be strongly desired.
- Must be approachable and empathic for children to be comfortable working with you.
- Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate with children of different ages and from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Adhere to all professional, ethical, and legal regulations as determined by relevant regulatory bodies and the law.
- Willingness to attend team meetings, as well as seminars on topics relevant to our client base.
Essential Criteria:
- Passionate about the cause – you have a demonstrated interest in mental health and motivation to support young people.
- A high level of interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability of dealing with confidential and sensitive issues appropriately.
- Organisational, time management and problem-solving skills as well as emotional awareness, intelligence and resilience.
- Experience of working independently and managing your own workload.
- Enhanced DBS check (Stop.Breathe.Think. will process this).
- Understanding of and adherence to all policies and procedures concerning the Safeguarding of young people.
- Good IT knowledge, with ability to learn new systems and independently.
Desirable:
- Awarded accredited status or working towards accreditation with the BACP
Management and Support:
Counsellors will report to the Counsellor Manager of Stop.Breathe.Think.
The Trustees will determine the overall direction of the Stop.Breathe.Think Service and will set the overall priorities in consultation with the Head of Service and Director.
