Are we the right service for you?

We want everyone who comes to Stop.Breathe.Think to get the right kind of help and support for what they’re going through.

At Stop.Breathe.Think, we offer brief solution-focused counselling and wellbeing support to help children and young people make sense of their feelings, build confidence and find ways to move forward positively. We offer 6, 8, or 12 sessions of goal-oriented support designed to help you explore what’s going on for you right now and learn practical tools that make a difference in your everyday life.

We’re able to offer support if you are:

  • Experiencing symptoms of anxiety
  • Living with low mood or depression
  • Struggling with anger, low self-esteem or confidence
  • Experiencing worry, fears or panic attacks
  • Feeling stressed or overwhelmed
  • Suffering from loneliness, isolation or bullying
  • Experiencing difficulties in relationships or identity
  • Finding it hard to cope with change: moving schools, changes in family circumstances, or friendships

Unfortunately we are not a crisis service and do not have the resources to support young people who are in need of serious intervention or who are suffering from serious psychological disorders such as:

  • At risk at harming yourself or have recently attempted suicide
  • Current experience or historical sexual assault or abuse
  • Living with or recovering from an eating disorder
  • Struggling with alcohol and drug addiction
  • Seeking help for historic or complex trauma
  • An asylum seeker or refugee needing specialist, trauma-informed or cultural support
  • Living with a pre-existing diagnosed mental health condition, such as (non exclusive list): Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Dissociative disorder, Personality disorder.

These experiences and conditions are often very complex and deserve the right type of specialist support, which something that can’t be offered safely or effectively within a short-term model like ours.

If Stop.Breathe.Think isn’t quite the right fit,  we’ll always do our best to guide or signpost you to other services that can provide the care and long-term help you need.

Please note, we are not a diagnostic service and are unable to provide reports to support EHCP applications.

If you have any questions regarding suitability for the service and would like to talk to one of our team before submitting a referral, please contact us on admin@stopbreathethink.org.uk.
